Operational work passes through many stages and many hands. The software had to follow the way the business already runs instead of forcing a generic template onto it.
We documented the workflow stage by stage with the people who run it, then modelled the system on those stages.
Dense, legible screens for daily use. Tables first, status always visible, and as few steps as possible between receiving a job and closing it.
